High Functioning
Anxiety and
Burnout Therapy
in-person counseling support for women
Charleston, SC
You are at the end of your rope,
Dreaming of feeling like yourself again,
But you need unbiased guidance.
You’re holding it all together.
But it’s taking everything you have.
You’re capable. Responsible. Self-aware. You’re the person other people count on.
From the outside, your life may even look pretty good.
But underneath it, your mind rarely stops.
You’re thinking about what needs to happen next. Replaying conversations. Trying not to disappoint anyone. Wondering if you’re doing enough. Keeping track of everyone and everything.
And lately, you’re tired in a way that sleep doesn’t seem to fix.
You don’t need to fall apart before you’re allowed to get support.
What if I told you it’s possible to get the guidance you need, understand how your mind works, stop self-sabotage, and manage your emotions?
Ethredge Counseling Group is here to guide you from breakdowns to breakthroughs.
“Highly recommend [ECG]. They provide trustworthy support for clients with great compassion and care.”
— Renee D.
Maybe you don’t look anxious.
You look high-functioning.
You go to work. You answer the texts. You meet the deadlines. You take care of the people you love.
You keep going.
But being the person who can always handle it has a cost.
Maybe lately you’ve noticed:
You can’t seem to turn your brain off
Small things suddenly feel overwhelming
You’re exhausted, but have trouble actually resting
You put enormous pressure on yourself to get things right
You feel guilty when you aren’t being productive
You replay conversations and second-guess yourself
You’re increasingly irritable or emotionally depleted
You have trouble saying no without feeling guilty
You procrastinate on things that normally wouldn’t faze you
You feel like you’re constantly behind
You’ve lost some of your motivation, creativity, or excitement
Your body feels tense even when nothing is technically wrong
You’re taking care of everyone else while quietly running on empty
And the strangest part?
The people around you may have no idea how hard you’re working just to feel okay.
Welcome to Ethredge Counseling in Charleston
We are an all female team of highly skilled, dedicated therapists providing advanced individual psychotherapy for millennial women. Located in Charleston, we offer in-person therapy rooted in compassion and expertise. Our holistic approach is custom-tailored to help you navigate anxiety, stress, depression, burnout and difficult life transitions with deep insight and expert guidance.
How We Work
We understand your experience in ways the people around you often don’t - the overthinking, the pressure you put on yourself, and how exhausting it is to look like you’re doing fine when you don’t feel fine.
Using EMDR, parts work, and a holistic, trauma-informed approach, we help you understand what’s driving the anxiety and work toward feeling more grounded, connected, and at ease in your own life.
Sessions are in person at our Charleston office. Real room, real person, no feeling like just a number.
Your anxiety didn’t come out of nowhere.
For many high-achieving women, the qualities that are exhausting them now once served an important purpose.
Being hyper-aware helped you anticipate what other people needed.
Being responsible kept things from falling apart.
Perfectionism protected you from criticism.
People-pleasing helped maintain connection.
Staying busy kept uncomfortable feelings at a distance.
Overthinking gave you the illusion that if you could anticipate every possibility, nothing could catch you off guard.
These strategies may have helped you become incredibly capable.
But you shouldn’t have to live your whole life in survival mode just because you’re good at it.
Therapy that goes deeper than “think more positively.”
Anxiety is rarely just a thinking problem.
That’s why our therapists work with the whole person: your thoughts, emotions, relationships, history, body, and nervous system.
Depending on what you need, your therapist may integrate talk therapy, EMDR, parts work, nervous-system education, and other holistic, trauma-informed approaches.
Our Tailored Approach
EMDR
EMDR can help your brain process experiences that continue to fuel anxiety, hypervigilance, shame, perfectionism, or feelings of never being safe enough.
Parts Work
Parts work can help you understand the subconscious patterns underneath your anxiety and develop a different relationship with the parts of yourself that have been working overtime to keep you safe.
Relationship Support
Anxiety doesn’t happen in a vacuum. We’ll look at how it shows up in dating, marriage, friendships, family, boundaries, attachment, conflict, and your tendency to take responsibility for everyone around you.

Imagine having a little more room inside your own life.
Not becoming a different person.
Not losing your ambition.
Not suddenly becoming someone who doesn’t care.
But being able to accomplish things without anxiety being the engine.
Imagine being able to rest without mentally calculating what you should be doing instead.
Make a decision without analyzing it twelve different ways.
Say no without spending the rest of the day wondering if someone is upset with you.
Have a difficult conversation without replaying it all night.
Let something be good enough.
Be present with the people you love.
Trust yourself.
And feel like your life belongs to you again.
Meet the therapists who understand high-functioning women.
You don’t need to figure out which therapeutic modality you need before you call us.
That’s our job.
