PRACTICE MANAGER TOPRACTICE IN CHARLESTON, SC
Job Summary
This role is a great fit for a seasoned therapist ready to step back from a full caseload while still seeing a few clients, or for someone in management who misses clinical work and wants to stay connected to it. At ECG, we primarily work with millennial women and couples using holistic, bottom-up approaches including family systems, polyvagal theory, EMDR, EFT, and IFS.
Ethredge Counseling Group (ECG), located in Avondale near downtown Charleston, is seeking a warm, organized, and driven Practice Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our growing private-pay counseling practice. This is a front-facing leadership role focused on driving business growth, managing operations and staff, and creating an exceptional, high-end experience for both clients and clinicians.
A key focus is filling the practice with ideal-fit clients through consultations, referral partnerships, and community engagement. The ideal candidate is both relational and results-driven, with strong leadership and execution skills.
Responsibilities
Lead the overall management of the counseling practice, including clinical operations, administrative functions, contractors, and staff supervision
Oversee fiscal management, including budgeting, billing, and financial reporting to ensure profitability and sustainability
Build and nurture referral relationships and actively network in the community to increase brand visibility
Monitor and improve consult to client conversion rate, client retention, and therapist caseload
Open and close the office daily to ensure a beautiful, welcoming, high-end client experience
Serve as a role model for staff to foster a positive, collaborative, and growth-oriented team culture
Meet with owner and clinical supervisor regularly
Manage medical records, documentation, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality
Utilize EHR systems to maintain accurate patient information and streamline workflows
Create and refine SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements
Coordinate clinic scheduling and patient flow to optimize service delivery
Maintain knowledge of healthcare management practices and managed care protocols
Ideal Candidate
Naturally relational, warm, and professional
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Familiar with the mental health field and clinical office management
Strong supervisory and leadership skills with experience managing people
Strong sales, marketing, and people skills (comfortable converting consultations)
Confident networker and community builder
Familiar with EHRs similar to Simple Practice; ability to adapt to new software tools quickly
Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, HIPAA compliance, and healthcare regulations
Experience in fiscal management, budgeting, and light bookkeeping
Data-driven and comfortable with KPIs and dashboards
Self directed and proactive (does not need hand-holding)
Passionate about mental health and helping people access care
Enjoys maintaining a small personal caseload of 10-15 clients
Compensation Options:
OPTION #1: THERAPIST + PRACTICE MANAGER
Base Salary: $65,000/year
Clinical Work: Expected to maintain ~10+ clients/week
Bonuses:
$1,500/month when the practice is full (each therapist averages ~24 clients/week)
$5,000 annual bonus if the practice reaches $1M in revenue
Total compensation potential: $88,000/year
OPTION #2: NON-THERAPIST PRACTICE MANAGER
Compensation: $30/hour (~$62,000/year)
Bonuses:
$1,000/month when therapists average ~23+ clients/week
$5,000 annual bonus if the practice reaches $1M in revenue
Total bonus potential: up to $17,000/year
